Most common and wide spread lizard at Hastings. Prior to survey was seen mostly in residential areas, at Big Creek, along three main roads, and at Long Field. During the survey they were seen in all habitats except the most densely shaded areas. They appeared to prefer foothill woodland habitats, specifically savanna and oak woodland. But they could be found in any habitat with elevated basking sites and/or direct or partial sunlight for most of the day. Thus it does seem they prefer more open areas. They could be found year round, but peaked from May to August and are least active in December and January. |
