| Description | Species List of Ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) of Sagehen Creek, Nevada Co., California (47 species) compiled by Phil Ward and most recently updated in June of 2012. Correspondence with P.ward: "The ant lists for Sagehen are cumulative – they represent our improvement in knowledge as we discover new species, but I don’t think they can be used to measure year-to-year presence/absence. All ants have perennial colonies, and my suspicion is that the same species occur there now as 20 years ago. We don’t get such rapid population turnover as occurs in some other insects with annual (or shorter) life cycles." |
